IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) operates regulated exchanges, trading platforms and clearing houses to serve the risk management needs of global markets. ICE connects market participants to OTC energy markets, cleared OTC credit derivatives and regulated electronic markets.
ICE offers trading in futures, options and OTC swaps contracts for managing risk across agricultural, CDS, currency, emissions, energy and equity index markets. Market participants trade benchmark contracts for some of the most heavily traded commodities, including crude oil, sugar, cotton and foreign exchange.
The ICE Platform provides fast execution, with sub-1 millisecond transaction time in ICE futures markets, and supports trading in bilateral and cleared OTC energy markets, futures and options markets, from a single platform. WebICE is the exchange's web-based front end, which provides direct access to ICE futures markets.
ICE Futures U.S. is the second largest futures exchange in the United States, offering agricultural, energy, foreign exchange and equity index futures and options.
ICE acquired the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) in 2007 and renamed the physical commodity exchange ICE Futures U.S. As such, ICE’s history in the U.S. futures market effectively dates back to 1870: NYBOT was the parent company of the New York Cotton Exchange (NYCE) and the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange (CSCE), founded in 1870 and 1882, respectively.
ICE Futures U.S. is the exclusive provider of futures and options on the family of Russell U.S. equity indexes, including the Russell 2000 and 1000 indexes.
ICE Clear U.S., established in 1915 as the New York Cotton Exchange Clearing Association, is a CFTC-regulated Designated Clearing Organization (DCO), which provides secure counterparty risk management and post-trade services including physical delivery.
