Market Data Fees

We provide real-time streaming market data for the prices listed in the sections below. You can also choose to receive free delayed market data for contracts for which you do not currently hold market data subscriptions. In addition, for clients who do not need the precise bid, offer and size every moment of the day and generate at least USD 30 in commissions per month, we offer free market data for US stocks, US futures (if you have US Futures trading permissions) and US bonds, as well as OTC Markets, Dow Jones Indices and CBOE Market Data Express Indices. Refer to the North America > United States market data fees table below for details.

Professional versus Non-Professional

Most exchanges and data vendors classify clients as either non-professional or professional. By default, organizations such as corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and any account where the data is used for more than personal investment purposes is deemed to be professional. In addition, private persons may be considered professional if they are registered as a security or investment advisor, or act in a similar capacity. A trader who is employed by a financial services business may also be considered a professional. Click here for more information about non-professional qualifications.

Market data fees for each month will be charged to your account during the first week of the subsequent month.
Customers without enough cash to pay market data fees will have positions liquidated to cover the fees. Those customers without enough equity to pay market data fees will have their remaining equity applied to the market data fees, and then the account will be closed.
Partial month subscriptions will be charged at the full month's rate.
There is no cap on the quantity of market data lines allocated per customer.
Market data for Advisors and Brokers is calculated based on aggregate commissions and equity for all accounts, and all accounts receive the same number of market data lines.
Advisors and Brokers without any funds in their master account to cover their market data fees will have their market data turned off until there are funds in the master account to cover market data fees.
Trading accounts with less than USD 500 (or non-USD equivalent) in equity will have their market data turned off. In the event market data is turned off, the account equity must be increased to USD 2,000 (or non-USD equivalent) before market data will be re-enabled.

Market Data Display

How Market Data is Allocated

In order to receive real-time market data, customers must be a subscriber to market data. All clients initially receive 100 concurrent lines of real-time market data (which can be displayed in TWS or via the API) and always have a minimum of 100 lines of data. After the first month of trading, the quantity of market data is allocated using the greater value of:

USD monthly commissions divided by 8
USD equity multiplied by 100 divided by $1,000,000

Using the calculations above, you would still receive the minimum 100 lines of data, since: $16/8 = 2

Using the calculations above, you would receive 124 lines of data, since: $500/8 = 62.5

The number of symbols that can be viewed simultaneously via the TWS deep book windows (including BookTrader, Market Depth and ISW) is determined as follows: one unique symbol for every 100 allowed lines of market data, with a minimum of three and a maximum of 60. For example, a client with the default allowance of 100 tickers will be able to simultaneously view three deep book windows. A client who, based on commissions, equity or other criteria, is allowed 500 tickers will be able to simultaneously view five deep book windows. Note that this number may change month to month if the number of allowed tickers for your account changes.

Quote Booster

Increase your allowance of simultaneous quotes windows by purchasing monthly Quote Booster packs at USD 30.00 per pack.

Each booster pack provides 100 simultaneous Level I quotes. Booster Pack quotes are additional to your monthly quote allotment from all sources, including commissions.
Booster pack quotes are available for use in the desktop systems and in the API.

Once subscribed, quotes are available immediately and will display the next time you log into the system.
Data from a cancelled booster pack subscription remains available through the end of the current billing cycle.
Limit of 10 Quote Booster packs per account.

* FREE TRIAL - Receive free for a 30 day period from date of subscription. The free trial subscription will terminate once the 30 day period is over. Once the trial data has terminated, the account may elect to re-subscribe to continue receiving the data. Should the trial data terminate mid-month and the election is made to re-subscribe, a full month charge will be levied as the exchanges do not prorate fees. For example, an account subscribing to a service subject to a free trial on October 15 will receive data for free until November 14. Should the account wish to continue receiving data past the 14th, the account must log into Account Management and re-subscribe once the data has terminated. The re-subscription will result in a full month charge for November. This data will then continue until the account unsubscribes from the service.
Market Data and Research Subscription Termination - If you do not log into Trader Workstation (TWS) for 60 days, you will be notified that your active market data and research subscriptions will expire at the end of the current month. You can avoid subscription termination by logging into TWS or by choosing to continue the subscriptions on the Market Data and Research pages in Account Management.
Market data subscription costs will not be pro-rated. Users who subscribe to or unsubscribe from data mid-month will be charged at the full month rate.

Non-Professional Subscriber - A "Non-professional Subscriber" is any natural person (the definition of a natural person excludes corporations, trusts, organizations, institutions and partnership accounts) whom a market data vendor has determined qualifies as a "Nonprofessional Subscriber" and who is not:

Registered or qualified with: the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, any state securities agency, any securities exchange or association, or any commodities or futures contract market or association, nor
Engaged as an "investment advisor" as that term is defined in Section 201(11) of the Investment Advisor's Act of 1940 (whether or not registered or qualified under that Act), nor
Employed by a bank or another organization that is exempt from registration under Federal and/or state securities laws to perform functions that would require him or her to be so registered or qualified if he or she were to perform such functions for an organization not so exempt.

Any person who does meet the above criteria (a, b, & c) is considered a Professional Subscriber.
