ELX Futures, L.P. (ELX Futures) is an electronic futures exchange formed in 2007 by global financial institutions. The exchange was established with the intent to provide low-cost execution, competition and liquidity in the interest rate futures market.
ELX Futures began trading in 2009. The fully regulated electronic futures exchange allows for market arbitrage, both outright and spread execution, and cash/futures basis trading through multiple front ends and an ultra-fast matching engine. ELX uses BGC Partners' eSpeed electronic trading platform, harnessing technology modified to support ELX and the futures industry.
The exchange offers trading in U.S. Treasury Futures contracts, Eurodollar Futures contracts and Agricultural Futures contracts. Depending on the product, ELX's matching system algorithm is configured to match orders on a Pro Rata, FIFO or split Pro Rata basis. Full trading and clearing details are available on the ELX Futures website.
ELX provides a simple one-tier fee schedule, with no additional surcharges associated with block trades, EFPs, give-ups or trade busts. Clearing services for ELX are provided by the OCC.
